The main character in Up goes through the Hero's journey because Carl went through some challenges such as being at a old age and not wanting to move out. Not wanting to move out into a retirement home was his call to adventure because he tried to do anything he could to not move. He blew up balloons tied to his house and started to float away. Some other challenges was that he found out that a young boy named Russell was accompanying him without Carl's knowledge. They're relationship goes through a transformation and at the end of the movie they're relationship is like a grandfather and his grandson. This is how Up compares to the heroes story.
